The Grainer evaporation process is a method of producing salt.{{cite journal | last=Kristjánsson | first=Ingólfur | title=Commercial production of salt from geothermal brine at reykjanes, iceland | journal=Geothermics | volume=21 | issue=5–6 |year=1992 | doi=10.1016/0375-6505(92)90029-9 | pages=765–771| bibcode=1992Geoth..21..765K }}
This method uses shallow open pans with steam-heated immersion coils to evaporate the brine into salt.
Sometimes it is paired with a partial-vacuum, to speed evaporation.
