Great Penck Glacier was on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, on the west slope of the peak.{{cite web|last1=Young|first1=James A.T.|title=Glaciers of the Middle East and Africa - Glaciers of Africa|url=http://pubs.usgs.gov/pp/p1386g/africa.pdf|publisher=U. S. Geological Survey|accessdate=October 15, 2014|format=pdf|date=1991}} Extending from the Northern Ice Field, the glacier once flowed {{convert|2.4|km}}, to an elevation of {{convert|4750|m}}. Between the years 1962 and 1975, Great Penck Glacier separated from the Northern Icefield and disappeared.{{cite journal|author1=N. J. Cullen|author2=P. Sirguey|author3=T. M¨olg|author4=G.
