Gregory John Crafter {{post-nominals|country=AUS|AO}} {{small|GCSG}} (born 16 September 1944) is a former South Australian Labor Party politician. He was the member for Norwood from 1979 to 1993, with a short break from September 1979 to February 1980.{{cite news |last=Emmerson |first=Russell |date=26 November 2011 |title=Ex-Labor MP Greg Crafter aware of potential conflict of interest |work=The Advertiser |publisher=News Corp Australia |url=http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/ex-labor-mp-greg-crafter-aware-of-potential-conflict-of-interest/story-e6frea6u-1226206632690 |accessdate=27 December 2013}}{{cite web |url=https://www.gawler.nowandthen.net.au/Crafter_Hon._Greg_AO |work=Gawler Now and Then |title=Crafter Hon. Crafter was elected in a March 1979 by-election triggered by the abrupt resignation of Premier Don Dunstan, the member for Norwood since 1953. Only six months later, however, he was turned out of office by Liberal Frank Webster as Labor lost government in the September 1979 state election. When the Court of Disputed Returns overturned Webster's win, Crafter contested a February 1980 by-election for his old seat and won. He held the seat until his defeat in 1993.
Crafter held a number of ministerial positions under John Bannon and Lynn Arnold,{{cite web|url=http://www.abc.net.au/stateline/sa/content/2003/s795522.htm|title=Economic Development Board puts forward plans to shake up the public service|last=Atkinson|first=Alan|date=28 February 2003|work=Stateline (TV program)|publisher=Australian Broadcasting Corporation|accessdate=27 December 2013}} including Minister for Education and Minister for Local Government.{{cite book|last=Mosler|first=Sharon Ann|title=Heritage Politics in Adelaide|publisher=University of Adelaide Press|year=2011|pages=101|isbn= 9780987073037|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=O1e6KfcNp3UC&q=%22Greg+Crafter%22&pg=PA101|accessdate=27 December 2013}}
After his parliamentary career, Crafter worked as a registered political lobbyist in South Australia, acting as Greg Crafter Consulting. He also served as National Catholic Education Commission chairman.{{cite web |url=https://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/outgoing-labor-senator-jacinta-collins-to-take-over-running-the-national-catholic-education-commission/news-story/ |title=Outgoing Labor Senator Jacinta Collins to take over running the National Catholic Education Commission |first=Rebecca |last=Urban |date=14 February 2019 |access-date=17 February 2019}}
