Griphognathus (from {{langx|el|γρίφος}} {{Transliteration|el|grífos}} 'riddle') and {{langx|el|γνάθος}} {{Transliteration|el|gnáthos}} 'jaw') is an extinct genus of lungfish from the late Devonian period of Europe and Australia.
Griphognathus was a specialized lungfish, about {{convert|60|cm|in}} long, with an elongated snout. The lower jaw and palate were lined with tooth-like denticles. Like all other lungfish, its skin was covered by overlapping scales, and it had an asymmetrical tail.{{cite book |editor=Palmer, D.|year=1999 |title= The Marshall Illustrated Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Animals|publisher= Marshall Editions|location=London|page= 45|isbn= 1-84028-152-9}}
