Groß Krams

Groß Krams lies in the Griese Gegend, a forested region of southwestern Mecklenburg.{{Cite web |title=Griese Gegend |url=http://griesegegend-online.de/gg-woundwas.htm |access-date=2023-06-17 |website=griesegegend-online.de}} It has an area of roughly 10.32 square kilometers, and has the Bundesstraße 5 passing through it.{{Cite web |title=Amt Hagenow-Land |url=https://www.amt-hagenow-land.de/amt-gemeinden/gross-krams/?vs=1 |access-date=2023-06-17 |website=www.amt-hagenow-land.de}}

The municipality borders Alt Krenzlin to the south, Bresegard bei Picher to the northeast, Belsch to the west, and Redefin to the northwest. It is part of the collective municipality of Hagenow-Land, by which it is surrounded on all sides but the south, as Alt Krenzlin is part of the collective municipality of Ludwigslust-Land.

Groß Krams was integrated into the municipality of Redefin on the 1st January 1974. It was again separated into its own municipality on the 5th May 1990.

The current mayor of Groß Krams is Tobias Alwardt (Aktiv GK).

The most recent election were the 2019 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern municipal elections. The municipal councils' size was increased from 5 to 7 (including the mayor) following the 2019 election.{{election table}}

The NDR published a documentary called Mein Nachbar ist Nazi – Was tun? Groß Krams does not have an official coat of arms or flag, it does however have an official seal described, but never visualized, in the main statute of the municipal council since 1999.
