The Guanyinyan Dam (Chinese: 观音岩水电站, lit. Guanyin Rock Dam) is a gravity dam on the Jinsha River {{Convert|30|km|mi|0|abbr=on}} southwest of Panzhihua on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan Provinces in China. The purpose of the dam is hydroelectric power generation and flood control. Construction on the dam started in 2008 and the river was diverted by 2010. The first generator was operational on 20 December 2014 and the fourth on 14 December 2015.{{cite news|title=Guanyinyan Station Unit 4 into operation early realization of "three times a year to vote."|url=http://news.bjx.com.cn/html/20151215/691735.shtml|accessdate=16 February 2016|agency=Datang guanyinyan Hydropower|publisher=Polaris Power Network|date=15 December 2015|language=Chinese}} The entire power station should be operational by 2016.{{cite web|title=Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. Design

The Guanyinyan Dam will is a {{Convert|159|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} tall and {{Convert|1158|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} long gravity dam. Of the dam's length, {{Convert|838|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} is roller-compacted concrete and {{Convert|320|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} is rock-fill embankment with this portion having a maximum height of {{Convert|71|m|ft|0|abbr=on}}. The crest elevation of the dam will be {{Convert|1141|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} above sea level and contain the power plant at the toe of its body. A spillway and two discharge openings are also included in the design.{{cite web|title=Guanyinyan station left, the right bank of the dam civil engineering and installation of metal structures and building construction, mechanical and electrical construction and installation of metal structures pre-qualification tender notice|url=http://www.sp.com.cn/xmxx/ztbxx/200911/t20091127_140990.htm|publisher=State Power Information Network by the National Network Information Communication Co., Ltd|accessdate=9 January 2011|language=Chinese|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110707022217/http://www.sp.com.cn/xmxx/ztbxx/200911/t20091127_140990.htm|archivedate=7 July 2011}}
