Hồ Cốc is a small beach community located in Vietnam's Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province, in Xuyên Mộc District."Present status of Spa Tourism in Vietnam", in Journal of Geology: Issues 15-20 Cục địa chất Việt Nam - 2000 "It can be associated with neighbouring tourism points of the area, such as Hồ Cốc Lake, Hồ Tràm Lake, Long Hải Beach, Vũng Tàu Resort Town, the monument built in honour of the heroine Võ Thị Sáu, relics of Minh Đạm guerilla resistance base..."[http://vnexpress.net/gl/xa-hoi/du-lich/2005/04/3b9dd52c/ Biển Xanh - Hồ Cốc] 2005 It is situated about {{convert|125|km|abbr=off}} southeast of Hồ Chí Minh City (HCMC). The trip to Hồ Cốc takes only about 2 hours from HCMC by car or 90 minutes via the ferry from HCMC to Vũng Tàu. Hồ Cốc is expected to follow the development of Hồ Tràm beach as well as the ACDL MGM Hồ Tràm casino project located nearby and become a major resort destination in southern Vietnam. Also notable in the area are hot springs and an {{convert|11000|ha|abbr=on}} rain forest that was designated as a nature reserve in 1975.
