HAT-P-19 is a K-type main-sequence star about 658 light-years away. The star is old yet metal-enriched, having amount of heavy elements 250% of solar abundance.{{citation|arxiv=1305.0578|title=Spectroscopy of Faint Kepler Mission Exoplanet Candidate Host Stars|year=2013|doi=10.1088/0004-637X/771/2/107|last1=Everett|first1=Mark E.|last2=Howell|first2=Steve B.|last3=Silva|first3=David R.|last4=Szkody|first4=Paula|journal=The Astrophysical Journal|volume=771|issue=2|page=107|bibcode=2013ApJ...771..107E|s2cid=119270620}} A survey in 2012 failed to find any stellar companions to HAT-P-19.{{citation|arxiv=1202.4586|title=A lucky imaging multiplicity study of exoplanet host stars|year=2012|doi=10.1111/j.1365-2966.2012.20485.x|last1=Ginski|first1=C.|last2=Mugrauer|first2=M.|last3=Seeliger|first3=M.|last4=Eisenbeiss|first4=T.|journal=Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society|volume=421|issue=3|pages=2498–2509|doi-access=free |bibcode=2012MNRAS.421.2498G|s2cid=118573795}}
Planetary system
In 2010 a transiting hot Saturn-sized planet was detected. Its equilibrium temperature is 984{{±|10}} K, and it is grey in color.{{citation|arxiv=1506.05685|title=Transmission spectroscopy of the inflated exo-Saturn HAT-P-19b|year=2015|doi=10.1051/0004-6361/201423778|last1=Mallonn|first1=M.|last2=von Essen|first2=C.|last3=Weingrill|first3=J.|last4=Strassmeier|first4=K.
