{{Short description|School in Graz, Austria}}

The HTBLVA Graz-Ortweinschule is a Höhere technische Bundeslehr- und Versuchsanstalt in the district Geidorf of the Austrian city Graz.

History

Archduke John of Austria founded a trade association, which established a drawing class for locksmithing, masonry, and carpentry in 1837 at the Universalmuseum Joanneum. Within the framework of the Trades Association, a winter school for master builders and {{Ill|polier|de}} also began in 1866. In 1872, the trade association founded the Styrian Art Industry Association in the Schießstatt building in Pfeifengasse, later Ortweinplatz. The Schießstatt building was extensively rebuilt and in 1876 the school was elevated to the status of {{Ill|Staatsgewerbeschule|de}} with director {{Ill|August Ortwein|de}}, and a yearly technical school for Civil Engineering was established alongside the winter school. With the spin-off of the mechanical and electrical engineering subjects, the {{Ill|Höhere technische Bundeslehr- und Versuchsanstalt Graz-Gösting|de}} was established in 1919 and the Staatsgewerbeschule was renamed the "Bundeslehranstalt für das Baufach und Kunstgewerbe". From 1926 to 1932, a new school building was constructed on Ortweinplatz according to the plans of the architect {{Ill|Adolf von Inffeld|de}}. Since 1987, the school has been located in a new building on the Körösistraße in the north of Graz, next to the BRG ("Bundesrealgymnasium") Körösi, which is on the corner of Ortweingasse.{{cite web |author=Sameer Mawid |url=http://ortweinschule.at/Daten/Seite.aspx?id=Chronik.aspx |title=Chronik; Ortweinschule |work=ortweinschule.at |date=5 April 2011 |access-date=29 August 2021 |archive-date=28 January 2015 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150128114226/http://ortweinschule.at/Daten/Seite.aspx?id=Chronik.aspx |url-status=dead }}{{cite web |url=https://www.wasserwirtschaft.steiermark.at/cms/dokumente/11396743_2222006/4fe60a79/Wassersehenswürdigkeiten2011_V1.pdf#page=2 |title=Wassersehenswürdigkeiten; Ortweinschule |work=wasserwirtschaft.steiermark.at |pages=2 |date=8 March 2011 |access-date=29 August 2021|format=PDF; 3,7 MB}}
