Haplogroup Q-B143 is a subclade of Y-DNA Haplogroup Q-NWT01. It is defined by the presence of the B143 Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP).
Distribution
Q-B143 is primarily found among the indigenous peoples of the North American Arctic, Greenland, and Northeastern Siberia. It exhibits high frequencies among the Eskimos of Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. It also has been found in the Koryaks, Chukchi and Yukaghirs.{{Cite journal |last1=Malyarchuk |first1=B. Recent studies indicate that the previously reported Q-NWT01 in Greenland populations is more likely to belong to the subclade Q-B143.{{Cite journal |last1=Grugni |first1=Viola |last2=Raveane |first2=Alessandro |last3=Ongaro |first3=Linda |last4=Battaglia |first4=Vincenza |last5=Trombetta |first5=Beniamino |last6=Colombo |first6=Giulia |last7=Capodiferro |first7=Marco Rosario |last8=Olivieri |first8=Anna |last9=Achilli |first9=Alessandro |last10=Perego |first10=Ugo A. |last11=Motta |first11=Jorge |last12=Tribaldos |first12=Maribel |last13=Woodward |first13=Scott R. |last14=Ferretti |first14=Luca |last15=Cruciani |first15=Fulvio |date=2019-01-24 |title=Analysis of the human Y-chromosome haplogroup Q characterizes ancient population movements in Eurasia and the Americas |journal=BMC Biology |volume=17 |issue=1 |pages=3 |doi=10.1186/s12915-018-0622-4 |doi-access=free |issn=1741-7007 |pmc=6345020 |pmid=30674303}}{{Cite journal |last1=Wei |first1=Lan-Hai |last2=Wang |first2=Ling-Xiang |last3=Wen |first3=Shao-Qing |last4=Yan |first4=Shi |last5=Canada |first5=Rebekah |last6=Gurianov |first6=Vladimir |last7=Huang |first7=Yun-Zhi |last8=Mallick |first8=Swapan |last9=Biondo |first9=Alessandro |last10=O’Leary |first10=Amy |last11=Wang |first11=Chuan-Chao |last12=Lu |first12=Yan |last13=Zhang |first13=Chao |last14=Jin |first14=Li |last15=Xu |first15=Shuhua |date=2018 |title=Paternal origin of Paleo-Indians in Siberia: insights from Y-chromosome sequences |journal=European Journal of Human Genetics |language=en |volume=26 |issue=11 |pages=1687–1696 |doi=10.1038/s41431-018-0211-6 |issn=1476-5438 |pmc=6189043 |pmid=29991739}}
