Harmen Abma

Harmen Abma (21 November 1937 in Hilaard – 30 November 2007 in Sneek) was a Frisian abstract and conceptual artist and painter. He was a member of an artistic group in the 1960s known as {{Interlanguage link multi|De Bende van de Blauwe Hand|nl}} in Harlingen.{{cite web|url=http://www.dekrantvantoen.nl/vw/article.do?id=LC-20071203-NO01008011&vw=org&lm=harm%2Cabma|title=Leeuwarder Courant|publisher=Dekrantvantoen.nl|accessdate=2 May 2013|language=Dutch}} He often experimented with materials as diverse as electric wire, concrete mesh, rope, jute and seat cushions in his artistic works, and contributed tile pictures to houses.{{cite book|title=Architectural guide to the Netherlands: 1900-2000|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=Rzv45YV7j9MC&pg=PT291|accessdate=2 May 2013|year=2006|publisher=010 Publishers|isbn=978-90-6450-573-7|page=291}} In the 1970s and 1980s he heavily researched and produced work based on colour mixing, and exploring the mathematical dimensions of it such as ratio and surface.
