Harold Leroy Enarson (May 24, 1919 – July 28, 2006)[https://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/01/sports/01enarson.html Harold Enarson, 87, Who Fired Woody Hayes at Ohio State, Dies] was the 9th President of Ohio State University. Prior to joining Ohio State, he served as the first President of Cleveland State University, from 1966 to 1972.{{cite news|title=CSU Through the Years|newspaper =The Plain Dealer|page =10 (Sunday magazine)|date =2005-02-27}}

After leaving the university, Enarson commented that he would be remembered most for his firing of popular Ohio State Buckeyes football coach Woody Hayes after Hayes punched an opposing player in the throat, though events such as Archie Griffin's two Heisman Trophies or graduate Paul Flory's Nobel Prize were highpoints. Ohio State President Karen Holbrook said of Enarson, "Today, Ohio State’s programs are stronger and its reputation more eminent, thanks to Harold Enarson."{{cite news|first=Barbara|last=Carmen|url=http://www.dispatch.com/news-story.php?story=dispatch/2006/08/01/20060801-D5-01.html|title=Harold Enarson; Former Ohio State president right fit in ‘time of change’; Leader from 1972-81 died on Friday in Washington state|newspaper=Columbus Dispatch|page=5D|date= 1 August 2006| archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110709073252/http://www.dispatch.com/live/contentbe/dispatch/2006/08/01/20060801-D5-01.html | archivedate=9 July 2011|url-status=dead}}
