History
Harveys Furniture was established in the United Kingdom in 1966,[https://www.duedil.com/company/00281055/harveys-furnishing-limited Harveys Furnishing Limited] with its first store opening in Mare Street, East London. It began as a private company, selling textiles and home furnishings. In 2003, Harveys made the decision to move to a furniture only business, removing all textiles from their product portfolio. The company was acquired by Steinhoff International in October 2005.
Between 2004 and 2010, Harveys Furniture specialised in living room, dining room and bedroom furniture. However, in May 2010 the bedroom furniture range was removed from the catalogue and was taken over by Bensons for Beds, another brand by Steinhoff. A fire engulfed the branch in Carlisle on 23 November 2013, following an arson attack.{{cite news |title=Carlisle furniture store rises from the ashes |url=https://www.cumbriacrack.com/2015/10/01/carlisle-furniture-store-rises-from-the-ashes/ |accessdate=25 February 2019 |work=Cumbria Crack |date=1 October 2015 |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160927190357/http://www.cumbriacrack.com/2015/10/01/carlisle-furniture-store-rises-from-the-ashes/ |archivedate=27 September 2016}} It reopened in March 2016.{{cite news |last1=McGowan |first1=Pamela |title=New jobs as Carlisle's Harveys store rises from the ashes |url=https://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/16701872.new-jobs-as-carlisles-harveys-store-rises-from-the-ashes/ |accessdate=25 February 2019 |work=News and Star |date=1 February 2016}}
