Reception

Keith Uhlich from Slant Magazine awarded the film three and a half out of four stars, writing, "Many directors would no doubt take a god’s-eye perspective of Haze's hero, but Tsukamoto favors an intimate camera style that offsets the genre film sturm und drang and grounds his movie in a terrifyingly mortal perspective."{{cite web |last1=Uhlich |first1=Keith |title=Review: Haze - Slant Magazine |url=https://www.slantmagazine.com/film/haze/ |website=SlantMagazine.com |publisher=Keith Uhlich |accessdate=7 August 2019 |date=22 September 2005}} Niina Doherty from HorrorNews.net gave the film a positive review, praising the film's claustrophobic atmosphere, sound design, and cinematography.{{cite web |last1=Doherty |first1=Niina |title=Film Review: Haze (2005) |url=https://horrornews.net/135275/film-review-haze-2005/ |website=HorrorNews.net |publisher=Niina Doherty |accessdate=7 August 2019 |date=14 December 2005}}
