Hazul (born 1981){{citation needed|date= May 2022}} is a Portuguese graffiti and street artist.

Biography

Hazul started painting in the street in 1997, at the age of 16.

Hazul is one of Porto's most prominent street artists. In 2015 he published "Mapa Hazul", a script with dozens of murals that he made in the city of Porto.{{cite web |last1=Serrado |first1=Patricia |title=O roteiro de street art no Porto / Mapa Hazul |url=https://mutante.pt/2015/04/mapa-hazul-luzah-street-art-porto/ |website=mutante.pt |publisher=Mutante Magazine |access-date=17 February 2022}}

Though his work has been mostly focused in his home city, he has also had some exposure internationally, particularly in Paris, where he has painted many murals and exhibited his works in group and solo shows.{{cite web |title=Artista português Hazul quer "fazer parte da arte urbana" de Paris |url=https://www.jn.pt/lusa/artista-portugues-hazul-quer-fazer-parte-da-arte-urbana-de-paris-9143392.html |website=Jornal de Noticias |publisher=Jornal de Noticias |access-date=17 February 2022}}

A number of his commissioned murals are now considered landmarks in Porto, particularly his pieces by Trindade metro station{{cite web |last1=CAPICUA |title=Hazul |url=https://visao.sapo.pt/opiniao/ponto-de-vista/2018-09-06-hazul/ |website=Visao.pt |publisher=Visao |access-date=17 February 2022}} and Estádio do Dragão, home of FC Porto.{{cite web |title=ARTE DE HAZUL LUZAH CHEGA AO ESTÁDIO DO DRAGÃO |url=https://www.fcporto.pt/pt/noticias/2018-pt-arte-de-hazul-luzah-chega-ao-estadio-do-dragao |website=fcporto.pt |publisher=FC Porto |access-date=17 February 2022}}

The distinctive style of his work is a very familiar sight around the streets of Porto. Municipality of Porto's anti-graffiti department often preserves his works, rather than removing them.{{cite book |last1=Cerqueira Pascoal |first1=Sara |last2=Sarmento |first2=Clara |title=Cultural Tourism and Heritage in Northern Portugal |date=2020 |publisher=Cambridge Scholars Publishing |isbn=9781527556836}}
