This essay concerns the use of copy and paste to insert text into a page. For years, Wikipedia had a bottom section during an edit-preview to show various markup and special characters to copy/paste onto a page.
Wikipedia copy/paste section
The following box shows copy/paste symbols which appeared during an edit-preview of a page. The actual live symbols table: MediaWiki:Edittools.

Depending on each user's view in Special:Preferences, such as Monobook skin, the copy/paste section might not appear during an edit-preview of a page. Also, some browsers might see an Insert-menu, to select among various groups of symbols.
