The Hexi tram (opened in 2014) is one of two tramlines that serve the city of Nanjing, China. These lines are part of the Nanjing tram network, which is an above-ground trolley system in Nanjing. The tram began its first trial run on August 13.{{Cite web |url=http://yis.nanjing2014.org/yis/en/article/20140814000016_en.html |title=Nanjing's new green tram system a YOG sustainable legacy project_奥官网_Les Jeux Olympiques de la Jeunesse |access-date=2014-09-11 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140911024826/http://yis.nanjing2014.org/yis/en/article/20140814000016_en.html |archive-date=2014-09-11 |url-status=dead }} The tram was built as part of infrastructure works for the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics.
Overview
The Hexi tram begins at the Nanjing Metro Line 2 Olympic Stadium East station. The terminus is located in Yuzui Wetlands Park area in southern Hexi New District.
The tram runs completely at ground level and features eco-friendly technologies and many modern amenities which include an on-board storage battery, and a pantograph charging system at each of its stations.
The Hexi tram covers {{convert|7.76|km|mi|abbr=on}} with a total of 13 stations that intersect in four points with Nanjing's existing metro lines.
On 6 May 2021, service of Hexi tram was temporarily suspended to allow construction of Metro Line 2 western extension. Later in October 2021, service was partly resumed, with Qinxinlu and Baoshuangjiedong stations remain suspended.{{cite web |author1=人民网 |title=南京河西有轨电车线将停运4个月 临时开通公交接驳线 |url=http://js.people.com.cn/n2/2021/0503/c360302-34707954.html |accessdate=2021-05-05 |archive-date=2021-05-05 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20210505113512/http://js.people.com.cn/n2/2021/0503/c360302-34707954.html |url-status=live }}
