Hey Paula is an American reality television series starring and co-produced by American television personality Paula Abdul that aired from June 28 to July 27, 2007, on the Bravo network.

Synopsis

Abdul's persona on Hey Paula was considerably less genial than that of her established reputation as "the nice one" on American Idol.[http://www.americanidol.com/about/paula_abdul/ Paula Abdul's Bio - American Idol][http://www.eonline.com/news/article/index.jsp?uuid=dea361d0-1280-4a53-ae3a-a0b97ebb5b7f E! Ratings and reception

In spite of the tremendous success of American Idol, the ratings for Hey Paula were reportedly low.{{Cite web |url=http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Ratings-Burn-Gets/800017924 |title=Ratings: Burn Gets Noticed, But Not Hey Paula - Today's News: Our Take {{!}} TVGuide.com |access-date=2008-05-02 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080519081313/http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Ratings-Burn-Gets/800017924 |archive-date=2008-05-19 |url-status=dead }} The series averaged 520,000 total viewers since its premier.{{cite web | last=Becker | first=Anne | title=Not A Hot Cable Summer for All | website=Broadcasting Cable | date=2007-08-11 | url=https://www.nexttv.com/news/not-hot-cable-summer-all-83511 | access-date=2023-01-06}}

Aftermath

During the filming of the series, Abdul was fired from the Bratz movie. Though her reaction to this was captured on camera, Abdul and her handlers subsequently denied the veracity of the segment, attributing Abdul's highly emotional on-camera break-down to "creative editing".{{Cite web |url=http://www.usmagazine.com/paula_abdul_10 |title=Usmagazine.com {{!}} EXCLUSIVE: Paula's People Say She Broke up With Bratz |access-date=2008-05-02 |archive-date=2008-01-15 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080115005352/http://www.usmagazine.com/paula_abdul_10 |url-status=dead }}
