Himley

Himley parish became part of Seisdon Union following the Poor Law Amendment Act 1834, and later the Seisdon Rural District until 1974, when it became part of the newly formed South Staffordshire district. Despite these administrative boundaries, Himley Hall is owned by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council.{{cite web |url=https://www.dudley.gov.uk/things-to-do/himley-hall-and-park/ |title=Himley Hall and Park |website=dudley.gov.uk |publisher=Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council |access-date=7 August 2023}} Located next to Himley Hall is St. Michael's Church, the only church in the village, which was erected in 1764 and is a Grade II listed building.{{cite web|title=Church of St Michael, Himley|url=http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-405806-church-of-st-michael-himley|publisher=British Listed Buildings|access-date=26 March 2012}} Most recent Earls of Dudley are interred in a private burial ground at the rear of Himley's parish church.

Himley is situated off the intersection of the main A449 road between Wolverhampton and Kidderminster, and the B4176 road between Dudley and Telford, which includes the village's bypass opened in July 1988. Bus routes National Express West Midlands 15/15a from Wolverhampton to Merry Hill Shopping Centre serve Himley village. Service 15 runs every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes, hourly at other times except for Sunday daytimes when service 15A operates, the latter omitting Wombourne village. From 1st June 2025 service 25 will no longer serve Wolverhampton. Late night journeys also operate. In addition Diamond Bus operate bus service 242S to Kinver High School on schooldays.

Between 1925 and 1932, there was a railway station known as Himley railway station on the Wombourne Branch Line, which opened as a goods line in 1911 but was only open for just over half a century. It was operated by the Great Western Railway. Regular events take place at Himley Hall such as wedding functions and exhibitions,{{cite web|title=Himley Hall and Park|url=http://discover.dudley.gov.uk/welcome/place-to-visit/himley-hall-park/|publisher=Discover Dudley|access-date=26 March 2012|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20111229143419/http://discover.dudley.gov.uk/welcome/place-to-visit/himley-hall-park/|archivedate=29 December 2011|df=dmy-all}} as well as local council-organised firework displays. Himley Golf Club, located within the grounds of Himley Hall, is open to the public.

The Old Rectory, built {{Circa|1760}}, is almost as big as St. Michael's Church behind it. The building, which had been sold by the Church of England in the 1950s, is now a private residence and is briefly mentioned in Nikolaus Pevsner's Buildings of Staffordshire. It was Grade II listed in 1963.{{cite web |url=https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1230944 |title=The Old Rectory |website=historicengland.org.uk |publisher=Historic England |access-date=7 August 2023}} When the building was still a working rectory, its garden was once visited by Mary of Teck, Queen consort as the wife of George V.{{citation needed|date=August 2023}} The rectory for the parish is now in Swindon.

There are two parks in Himley: the main park located within the boundaries of Himley Hall; and a second smaller park located on School Road.

The 18th-century Crooked House pub, just within the boundaries of Himley parish,{{cite web|title=General Information|url=http://www.sstaffs.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=13814|work=Himley Parish|publisher=South Staffordshire Council|accessdate=26 March 2012|url-status=dead|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20150320193405/http://www.sstaffs.gov.uk/Default.aspx?page=13814|archivedate=20 March 2015|df=dmy-all}} was gutted by fire in August 2023, and then promptly demolished without council permission.{{Cite news |last=Flash |first=Oprah |date=6 August 2023 |title=The Crooked House: Fire rips through famed 'wonky' pub |work=BBC News |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-66421163 |access-date=6 August 2023}} In February 2024 South Staffordshire Council issued the landowner with an enforcement notice which requires them to reconstruct the building.
