Hirokazu Hamamura

Career

Hamamura was born in Osaka Prefecture. He went on to study at {{ill|Osaka Prefectural Tondabayashi Junior and Senior High School|ja|大阪府立富田林中学校・高等学校}} and then at {{ill|Waseda University Literature Department|ja|早稲田大学第一文学部}}.

He was appointed vice editor-in-chief in 1990 and later editor-in-chief in 1992.

In 1996 due to internal discord within ASCII management, Hamamura's predecessor as editor-in-chief {{ill|Fumitaka Kojima|ja|小島文隆}} and others resigned to establish {{ill|Axela|ja|アクセラ (企業)}}, though Hamamura decided to remain with ASCII. In 2000, he became president of Enterbrain. In 2002, he handed over the editorship of Famitsu to {{ill|Katsuaki Katou|ja|加藤克明}}, but he continued to have a strong influence with his personal column printed at the back of the magazine. He also often appears as a commentator in economic articles when news media covers the game industry.

Hamamura often appears as a guest character in various video games, regardless of genre.
