The Holland–Bukit Timah Group Representation Constituency is a four-member Group Representation Constituency (GRC) located in the central, western and northern areas of Singapore. The GRC consists of four divisions: Cashew, Bukit Timah, Ulu Pandan and Zhenghua managed by Holland Bukit Panjang Town Council. The current MPs are Sim Ann, Vivian Balakrishnan, Christopher de Souza and Edward Chia from the People's Action Party (PAP).
History
Originally known as the Holland–Bukit Panjang Group Representation Constituency, it was renamed to its present name in 2006 due to the Bukit Panjang ward of the GRC being carved out to form a Single Member Constituency, in return the Bukit Timah Single Member Constituency was absorbed.
Before 2011, Buona Vista division was in this GRC, which was transferred to Tanjong Pagar GRC, and Moulmein division was transferred to Moulmein–Kallang Group Representation Constituency, based on demographic changes. Lim Swee Say was moved to East Coast GRC to replace S. Jayakumar at that time. In 2025, Bukit Timah Hill estate was moved from Jurong East–Bukit Batok GRC to Holland–Bukit Timah GRC, whereas Junction 10 was moved to Chua Chu Kang GRC.
Holland–Bukit Timah GRC is a stronghold for the PAP, having won every contest in this division since its establishment in 2006. The Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) had contested in this division in 2011, 2015 and 2020, but has never won over 40% of the vote in subsequent elections.{{cite web |last1=Ying |first1=Lee Li |title=GE2025: SDP uncertain about fielding team in Holland-Bukit Timah, search for candidates ongoing |url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/ge2025-sdp-uncertain-about-fielding-team-in-holland-bukit-timah-search-for-candidates-ongoing |website=The Straits Times |access-date=16 April 2025 |language=en |date=8 April 2025}} In 2025, the SDP did not contest in the constituency but was contested by Red Dot United (RDU). PAP won the contest with around 79% of the vote, an increase of almost 13 percent of votes.{{cite web |author1=Christine Tan |author2=Lee Li Ying |title=GE2025: PAP retains Holland-Bukit Timah with 79.29% of votes against new opponent RDU |url=https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/politics/ge2025-pap-retains-holland-bukit-timah-with-79-29-of-votes-against-new-opponent-rdu |website=The Straits Times |access-date=6 May 2025 |language=en |date=3 May 2025}}
Constituency profile
A large portion of Holland–Bukit Timah GRC is made up of greenery and nature reserves, namely the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the Rifle Range Nature Park, the Central Water Catchment and the preserved Bukit Timah railway station as part of the Rail Corridor. The parks of Mandai Wildlife Reserve are also located in this division.
Holland–Bukit Timah GRC is also known as amongst the wealthiest electoral divisions in the entire country, due to the predominance of multimillion-dollar private housing, which are predominantly owned by the wealthiest residents of the country. However, parts of the GRC also include the more middle income Bukit Panjang (Zhenghua) estate that are not a part of Bukit Panjang SMC.
