Hopea latifolia is a tree in the family Dipterocarpaceae. The specific epithet latifolia means "wide leaf".
Description
Hopea latifolia grows as a canopy tree, up to {{convert|40|m|-1}} tall, with a trunk diameter of up to {{convert|70|cm|0|abbr=on}}. It has buttresses and stilt roots. The bark is smooth. The leathery leaves are ovate and measure up to {{convert|8|cm|0|abbr=on}} long. The inflorescences measure up to {{convert|4|cm|0|abbr=on}} long and bear up to five cream flowers. The nuts are egg-shaped and measure up to {{convert|0.8|cm|1|abbr=on}} long.
Distribution and habitat
Hopea latifolia is native to Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo. Its habitat is mixed dipterocarp forests, to elevations of {{convert|400|m|-2|abbr=on}}.
