Houston is the planned southern terminus of the Texas Central Railway high-speed line. The station is located in the Lazybrook/Timbergrove neighborhood of Houston, Texas, northeast of the Interstate 610 and U.S. Route 290 interchange at the site of the former Northwest Mall. The station is about {{convert|1.5|mi}} from the METRO Northwest Transit Center and about {{convert|8|mi}} from Downtown.

Planning

Three alternatives were considered for the Houston passenger terminal: the former Northwest Mall, the industrial site directly southwest of the mall, and the nearby METRO Northwest Transit Center.{{Cite news|url=https://www.texascentral.com/2017/12/15/texas-bullet-train-moves-ahead-with-federal-environmental-impact-statement/|title=MAJOR MILESTONE: Texas Bullet Train moves ahead with Federal Draft Environmental Impact Statement - Texas Central|date=December 15, 2017|work=Texas Central|access-date=December 17, 2017|language=en-US|archive-date=May 30, 2018|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20180530092547/https://www.texascentral.com/2017/12/15/texas-bullet-train-moves-ahead-with-federal-environmental-impact-statement/|url-status=dead}}{{Cite web|url=https://twitter.com/christofspieler/status/941844628898119680|title=.@TexasCentral DEIS shows 3 Houston station options for 90min high speed rail line to Dallas|last=Spieler|first=Christof|date=December 15, 2017|website=Twitter|language=en|access-date=December 17, 2017}} The mall was chosen as the station site in 2018.{{cite news |last1=Formby |first1=Brandon |title=Bullet train developers want to turn Houston's Northwest Mall into major transit hub |url=https://www.texastribune.org/2018/02/05/bullet-train-developers-pick-northwest-mall-houston-station-location/ |accessdate=July 21, 2020 |agency=The Texas Tribune |date=February 5, 2020}}
