In 2014, Tynwald approved recommendations from the Boundary Review Commission which saw the reform of the Island's electoral boundaries.

Under the new system, the Island was divided into 12 constituencies based on population, with each area represented by two members of the House of Keys.{{cite web |url=https://legislation.gov.im/cms/legislation/acts-of-tynwald-as-enacted/category/16-primary-2014.html?download=220:representation-of-the-people-amendment-act-2014 |title=REPRESENTATION OF THE PEOPLE (AMENDMENT) ACT 2014 |id=AT 8 of 2014 |date= |website=legislation.gov.im}}

As a result, Middle's electoral boundaries were changed significantly and the constituency gained an additional Member of the House of Keys.{{cite web |url=https://www.gov.im/media/1371849/constituency-map-no-9-middle.pdf |title=Map No. 9: MIDDLE CONSTITUENCY |date= |website=Isle of Man Government}}
