Biography

Born in Graz on 17 December 1952, Schmalix studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1971 to 1976 under the instruction of {{ill|Maximilian Melcher|fr}}. In 1976, he gave his first personal exhibition at the Vienna Künstlerhaus. In 1983, he participated in {{ill|aktuell ’83|de}} in Munich and subsequently travelled to Australia and the Philippines. In 1987, he moved to Los Angeles.
