Reception

PopHorror.com calls Human Hibachi a "modern day tale of cannibalism and that in itself makes the film rather unique".{{cite web|url=https://www.pophorror.com/human-hibachi-2020-first-world-cannibalism-at-its-finest-movie-review/|title=Human Hibachi (2020): First World Cannibalism At Its Finest - Movie Review|website=Pophorror.com|date=January 17, 2020}}

Horror Society says, "Finally, the film doesn’t shy away from the red stuff but its use of meat is what sends it over the edge. The film has several scenes with plenty of blood but it makes use of a restaurant to work in the meat for the cannibal angle. This really make the story work while using real meat."{{cite web|url=https://www.horrorsociety.com/2020/12/30/human-hibachi-review/|title=Human Hibachi (Review)|date=December 30, 2020|website=Horrorsociety.com}}

Horror News quoted "At its heart (& lungs, & stomach), it is a cannibal movie but it much deeper than that. There is a well-crafted story there that leads us into the madness and mayhem. It's a smart movie that doesn't just rely on mindless gore for cheap thrills."

Horror News Net placed the movie in their top ten essential found footage films list.{{cite web | url=https://horrornews.net/177264/top-ten-essential-found-footage-films/ | title=Top Ten Essential Found Footage Films | date=23 March 2023 }}

Grimoire of Horror gave the film a 3.5 out of 5 saying, "While it has its limitations, it’s clear why the feature has gained a cult following and is a fantastic first entry in the trilogy."{{cite web | url=https://www.grimoireofhorror.com/the-banshee/human-hibachi-2020-film-review/ | title=Human Hibachi (2020) Film Review - Found Footage Cannibalism | date=17 January 2025 }}{{cite web|url=https://horrornews.net/161138/review-human-hibachi-2020/|title=Film Review: Human Hibachi (2020)|website=Horrornews.net|date=October 30, 2020}}

Nerdly.co.uk notes Human Hibachi is a brilliant play on the old “video nasty” era belief that snuff movies are real too.{{Cite web|url=https://www.nerdly.co.uk/2021/02/16/human-hibachi-vod-review/|title=Nerdly » 'Human Hibachi' VOD Review|website=Nerdly.co.uk|access-date=20 February 2022}}
