The Hunter 19-1 is an American trailerable sailboat that was designed as a day sailer and small cruising sailboat by the Hunter Design Team and first built in 1981.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hunter-19-1|title = Hunter 19-1 sailboat specifications and details|access-date = 27 October 2018|last = Browning|first = Randy|work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2018|archive-url = https://archive.today/20210523193049/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hunter-19-1|archive-date = 23 May 2021|url-status = live}}{{cite web|url= https://sailboatdata.com/builder/hunter-marine-usa|title= Hunter Marine|access-date= 27 October 2018|last= Browning|first= Randy|work= sailboatdata.com|year= 2018|archive-url= https://archive.today/20200730183858/https://sailboatdata.com/builder/hunter-marine-usa|archive-date= 30 July 2020|url-status= live}}{{cite web|url = https://www.marlow-hunter.com/wp-content/uploads/19_1982.pdf|title = Hunter 19, 22, 25 the affordable fantasy|access-date = 27 October 2018|author=Hunter Marine |work = www.marlow-hunter.com|year=1981 |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20181027185937/https://www.marlow-hunter.com/wp-content/uploads/19_1982.pdf|archive-date= 27 October 2018|url-status= live}}
The design was originally marketed by the manufacturer as the Hunter 19, but is now usually referred to as the Hunter 19-1 to differentiate it from the unrelated 1993 Hunter 19-2 design, which was also sold as the Hunter 19.{{cite web|url = https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hunter-19-2|title = Hunter 19-2 sailboat specifications and details|access-date = 27 October 2018|last = Browning|first = Randy|work = sailboatdata.com|year = 2018|archive-url = https://archive.today/20210523193137/https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/hunter-19-2|archive-date = 23 May 2021|url-status = live}}
Production
The design was built by Hunter Marine in the United States between 1981 and 1983, but it is now out of production.
Design
The Hunter 19-1 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig, a raked stem, a slightly reverse transom, a transom-hung rudder controlled by a tiller and a centerboard. It displaces {{convert|1250|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}}.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|4.50|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the centreboard extended and {{convert|0.58|ft|m|abbr=on}} with it retracted, allowing beaching or ground transportation on a trailer.
The boat is normally fitted with a small outboard motor for docking and maneuvering. The design features a self-bailing cockpit, built-in outboard engine mount, a portable toilet and a cooler.
The design has a hull speed of {{convert|5.12|kn|km/h|2|abbr=on}}.{{cite web|url =http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/5739/hunter-19-1 |title = Sailboat Specifications for Hunter 19-1 |access-date = 27 October 2018|work = Sailing Joy|author= InterVisionSoft LLC|year = 2018 |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20181027185958/http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/5739/hunter-19-1|archive-date= 27 October 2018|url-status= dead}}
