The design forms a scaled series with the Hunter 306 and the 326. Production

Design

The Hunter 356 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a fractional sloop B&R rig, an internally-mounted spade-type rudder, a reverse transom, a mast-furling mainsail and a fixed fin keel. It displaces {{convert|13900|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|4000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.

The boat has a draft of {{convert|6.42|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard fin keel. The optional shoal draft keel model has a draft of {{convert|5.00|ft|m|abbr=on}}

The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar diesel engine of {{convert|27|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}}. The fuel tank holds {{convert|38|u.s.gal}} and the fresh water tank has a capacity of {{convert|75|u.s.gal}}.
