Design
The Hunter 460 is a recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass. It has a B&R masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, a walk-through reverse transom with a swimming platform and folding ladder, an internally mounted spade-type rudder controlled by a wheel and a fixed fin keel or optional bulb wing keel. With the fin keel it displaces {{convert|26180|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|9680|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast. With the wing keel it displaces {{convert|26000|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} and carries {{convert|9500|lb|kg|0|abbr=on}} of ballast.
The boat has a draft of {{convert|6.50|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the standard keel and {{convert|5.50|ft|m|abbr=on}} with the optional shoal draft keel.
The boat is fitted with a Japanese Yanmar JH2HTE diesel engine of {{convert|76|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}}. The fuel tank holds {{convert|100|u.s.gal}} and the fresh water tank has a capacity of {{convert|200|u.s.gal}}.
Factory options included a two cabin and workshop arrangement, a three cabin and four cabin configuration. Standard equipment included an electric halyard winch, self-draining transom propane lockers, dual offset anchor rollers and a full-beam aft cockpit.
The design has a PHRF racing average handicap of 105 with a high of 108 and low of 95. It has a hull speed of {{convert|8.44|kn|km/h|2|abbr=on}}.{{cite web|url = http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/4440/hunter-460|title = Sailboat Specifications for Hunter 460 |access-date = 1 January 2019|work = Sailing Joy|author= InterVisionSoft LLC|year = 2018|archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20190102094957/http://www.sailingjoy.com/sailboat_specs/sailboat_specs/view/4440/hunter-460|archive-date= 2 January 2019|url-status= dead}}
