IFAF Europe was the governing body of American football in Europe. It is a member of the International Federation of American Football. IFAF Europe replaced the European Federation of American Football (EFAF) which had begun in 1976 as the American European Football Federation (AEFF).{{cite web |url=http://www.americanfootballinternational.com/american-football-to-get-new-look-in-europe-starting-in-2015-thanks-to-ifaf/ |title=Structural changes on the horizon for American Football in Europe |last1=Kelly |first1=Roger |date=18 August 2014 |website=AmericanFootballInternational.com |access-date=11 June 2015 |quote=the EFAF general assembly unanimously decided to dissolve EFAF in 2014 and IFAF Europe took its place}}{{cite web |url=http://dblcoverage.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/bafa-response-to-efaf-ifaf-arbitration.html |title=BAFA response to EFAF-IFAF Arbitration |date=15 November 2012 |website=dblcoverage.com |access-date=11 June 2015}}
IFAF Europe organises competitions for American football for men, women, and 16- to 19-year-olds. Additionally, they organise flag football for men, women, and under-15 and under-17.
After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Italian Federation of American Football (FIDAP; Federazione Italiana Di American Football) announced that the Italy national team, the then-IFAF Europe title holders, refused to play against Russia in October 2022 in a qualifier for the 2023 IFAF European Championships.{{Cite web|url=https://www.americanfootballinternational.com/defending-european-champions-team-italy-refuses-to-play-russia/|title=Defending European Champions, Team Italy, refuses to play Russia|date=April 7, 2022|website=American Football International}}
