Interleukin-1 receptor-like 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the IL1RL2 gene.{{cite journal |vauthors=Lovenberg TW, Crowe PD, Liu C, Chalmers DT, Liu XJ, Liaw C, Clevenger W, Oltersdorf T, De Souza EB, Maki RA | title = Cloning of a cDNA encoding a novel interleukin-1 receptor related protein (IL 1R-rp2) | journal = J Neuroimmunol | volume = 70 | issue = 2 | pages = 113–22 |date=Dec 1996 | pmid = 8898719 | doi =10.1016/S0165-5728(96)00047-1 | s2cid = 53171191 }}{{cite journal |vauthors=Dale M, Nicklin MJ | title = Interleukin-1 receptor cluster: gene organization of IL1R2, IL1R1, IL1RL2 (IL-1Rrp2), IL1RL1 (T1/ST2), and IL18R1 (IL-1Rrp) on human chromosome 2q | journal = Genomics | volume = 57 | issue = 1 | pages = 177–9 |date=Jun 1999 | pmid = 10191101 | doi = 10.1006/geno.1999.5767 }}{{cite journal |vauthors=Debets R, Timans JC, Homey B, Zurawski S, Sana TR, Lo S, Wagner J, Edwards G, Clifford T, Menon S, Bazan JF, Kastelein RA | title = Two novel IL-1 family members, IL-1 delta and IL-1 epsilon, function as an antagonist and agonist of NF-kappa B activation through the orphan IL-1 receptor-related protein 2 | journal = Journal of Immunology | volume = 167 | issue = 3 | pages = 1440–6 |date=Jul 2001 | pmid = 11466363 | doi = 10.4049/jimmunol.167.3.1440| doi-access = free }}{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: IL1RL2 interleukin 1 receptor-like 2| url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=gene&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=8808}}

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the interleukin 1 receptor family. An experiment with transient gene expression demonstrated that this receptor was incapable of binding to interleukin 1 alpha and interleukin 1 beta with high affinity. This gene and four other interleukin 1 receptor family genes, including interleukin 1 receptor, type I (IL1R1), interleukin 1 receptor, type II (IL1R2), interleukin 1 receptor-like 1 (IL1RL1), and interleukin 18 receptor 1 (IL18R1), form a cytokine receptor gene cluster in a region mapped to chromosome 2q12.
