INPP4B

{{Short description|Protein-coding gene in the species Homo sapiens}}

{{Infobox_gene}}

Inositol polyphosphate-4-phosphatase, type II, 105kDa is a protein that in humans is encoded by the INPP4B gene.{{cite web | title = Entrez Gene: Inositol polyphosphate-4-phosphatase, type II, 105kDa | url = https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?db=gene&cmd=retrieve&list_uids=8821 | access-date = 2012-07-24 }}

INPP4B encodes the inositol polyphosphate 4-phosphatase type II, a dual specificity phosphatase. INPP4B is involved in phosphatidylinositol signaling pathways. This enzyme removes the phosphate group at position 4 of the inositol ring from inositol 3,4-bisphosphate and phosphate groups from phosphotyrosines.{{cite journal | vauthors = Lopez SM, Hodgson MC, Packianathan C, Bingol-Ozakpinar O, Uras F, Rosen BP, Agoulnik IU | title = Determinants of the tumor suppressor INPP4B protein and lipid phosphatase activities | journal = Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications | volume = 440 | issue = 2 | pages = 277–82 | date = October 2013 | pmid = 24070612 | pmc = 4578723 | doi = 10.1016/j.bbrc.2013.09.077 }} There is limited data to suggest that the human type II enzyme is subject to alternative splicing, as has been established for the type I enzyme.
