Early career
Ian Porter's family hails from Coventry,{{Cite web|url=http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/multimedia/news/2013/02/14/actor-returns-to-his-coventry-roots-92746-32810066/|title=CoventryLive: Coventry news, sport, lifestyle and events}} but his family moved to Los Angeles when he was only 1 year old. He lived in Torrance, California until he graduated from Long Beach State University.
