History

ImagineAir was founded in November 2005 as ImagineAir Jet Services LLC by Paul Fischer, Aaron Sohacki and Benjamin Hamilton and headquartered at the Gwinnett County Airport near Atlanta, Georgia.{{cite web|url = http://www.flyimagineair.com/team.php|title = Team Members|access-date = 2009-11-04|last = Imagine Air Jet Services |year = 2005}} From the beginning it was the intention of the company's founders to fly a network of the Eclipse 500 VLJs; however, delivery delays led ImagineAir to begin operating with Cirrus SR22s. From 2007 through 2012 the company has reported steady quarter over quarter growth, tripling its number of Cirrus aircraft and establishing bases in Charleston, South Carolina, and Raleigh, North Carolina.{{cite web|url = http://www.prlog.org/10914367-air-taxi-company-imagineair-announces-expansion-in-charleston-sc.html|title = Air Taxi Company ImagineAir Announces Expansion in Charleston, SC|access-date = 25 January 2011|last = ImagineAir Press Release|date=September 2010}}

In March 2014, ImagineAir announced a merger with the Danbury, Connecticut-based operator Kavoo in an effort to become the first nationwide air taxi carrier. The merger widened ImagineAir's service area to include the entire east coast of the United States and created the largest part 135 air carrier by flight volume.{{cite web|url=http://www.ajc.com/news/business/imagineair-merging-with-kavoo-air-taxi-service/ndWSt/|title=ImagineAir Merging with Kavoo Air Taxi Service|date=February 2014}}{{cite web|url=https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/merger-creates-the-nations-largest-air-taxi-service-246223331.html|title=ImagineAir Merging with Kavoo Air Taxi Service|date=February 2014}}

In May 2018, ImagineAir suspended operations as the company’s leadership and advisors were unable to secure the necessary short-term funding to continue operations, nor the long-term funding to scale the company to profitable scale.{{Cite web|url=https://www.forbes.com/sites/douggollan/2018/05/30/does-imagineairs-shutdown-sound-a-warning-bell-for-private-aviation-consumers/?sh=46869914422c|title = Exclusive: Regional jet card and private charter operator ImagineAir suspends operations|date = 28 May 2018}}
