In-Public (sometimes written iN-PUBLiC) is an international group of street photographers that operates as a collective.{{cite web|url=http://www.britishcouncil.or.th/en/programmes/arts/past-projects/public-exhibition-street-photography |access-date=10 February 2015 |publisher=British Council |title=iN-PUBLiC: An Exhibition of Street Photography |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150213060930/http://www.britishcouncil.or.th/en/programmes/arts/past-projects/public-exhibition-street-photography |archive-date=February 13, 2015}}{{cite journal | last1 = Mora | first1 = Gilles | year = 2009 | title = Que Faire de la "Street Photography"? = What is to be Done with "Street Photography"? | periodical = Zmála | issue = 1 | pages = 5–15 | publisher = Photographie & Compagnie | isbn = 978-2-9534557-0-0 | location = Paris}} It was established in 2000 by Nick Turpin with the intention of bringing together like minded photographers to hold exhibitions, produce books and conduct workshops and promote street photography.{{cite book | first = David | last = Gibson | title= The Street Photographer's Manual | year= 2014 | publisher= Thames & Hudson | location= London | isbn= 978-0-500-29130-6 | pages = 29–30}}
It was the first international collective of street photographers,{{cite book | first1 = Mike | last1 = Seaborne | first2= Anna | last2= Sparham | title= London Street Photography: 1860–2010 | year= 2011 | publisher= Dewi Lewis Publishing | location= Stockport | isbn= 978-1907893032}} its geographically disparate membership facilitated by the Internet. New members were accepted but the recruitment process was "haphazard and organic".
It ended in 2018"in-public was the first Street Photography collective, it was founded in 2000 and ran for 18 years until October 2018. / A disagreement between the members made it impossible for the group to continue in its present form." History
In-Public was established in 2000 by Nick Turpin.{{cite news | url = https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/news/format-festival-street-photography-steals-the-show-2231147.html | date = 3 March 2011 | access-date = 11 February 2015 | first = Matilda | last = Battersby | newspaper = The Independent | title = Format Festival: Street photography steals the show}}{{cite news | url = https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-12551534 | date = 28 February 2011 | access-date = 11 February 2015 | publisher = BBC News | title = In pictures: Format International Photography Festival 2011 | quote = One of the highlights of the festival is the first showing of Nick Turpin's new documentary film In-Sight, which explores the various techniques artists use to capture their photographs. Turpin set up the photography collective In-Public just over 10 years ago and is now a leading street photographer.}} Turpin left the collective in 2018.{{cite web|first1=Blake|last1=Andrews|author-link=Blake Andrews|access-date=2018-10-11|title=B: An Open Letter To Nick Turpin|url=https://blakeandrews.blogspot.com/2018/10/an-open-letter-to-nick-turpin.html|date=8 October 2018}}{{cite web|access-date=2018-10-11|title=Interview-with-Nick-Turpin-Founder-of-In-Public-Collective|url=http://blackkamera.com/interview-nick-turpin-founder-public-collective/|website=Blackkamera|date=26 September 2018}} Its website stated that the collective ended in October 2018 because of a division between its members over the posting by two of them of a computational image and a staged image. Many of the old members formed a new group, UP Photographers.
In April 2020 In-Public's website stated that the group had relaunched, "with a new remit to promote and celebrate photographers who eschew staging and manipulation". The new group included a few from its previous membership, including Turpin.
