Incertohypothalamic pathway
The incertohypothalamic pathway is a short dopaminergic pathway from the zona incerta to the hypothalamus of the brain. It has a role in modulation of fear and the integration of autonomic and neuroendocrine responses to specific sensory stimuli for example during sexual behaviour.{{cite journal|last=Giuliano|first=F|author2=Allard|title=Dopamine and sexual function|journal=International Journal of Impotence Research|date=August 2001|volume=13|issue=Supplement 3|pages=S18–S28|pmid=11477488|doi=10.1038/sj.ijir.3900719|doi-access=free}}{{cite journal |last1=Lookingland |first1=Keith J. |last2=Moore |first2=Kenneth E. |title=Chapter VIII Functional neuroanatomy of hypothalamic dopaminergic neuroendocrine systems |journal=Handbook of Chemical Neuroanatomy |date=2005 |volume=21 |pages=435–523 |doi=10.1016/S0924-8196(05)80012-0|isbn=9780444517784 }}{{cite journal |last1=Brandão |first1=Marcus L. |last2=Coimbra |first2=Norberto C. |title=Understanding the role of dopamine in conditioned and unconditioned fear |journal=Reviews in the Neurosciences |date=24 April 2019 |volume=30 |issue=3 |pages=325–337 |doi=10.1515/revneuro-2018-0023|pmid=30179855 |s2cid=52155907 }}
