Independent Autonomists

The Independent Autonomists (Autonomisti Indipendenti, AI) was a social-liberal Italian political party active in Aosta Valley.

It was founded in March 1991 by Ilario Lanivi, ex-leading member of the Progressive Democratic Autonomists, and Amato Maquignaz. In April 1992 Lanivi became President of the Region at the head of a coalition composed by the Valdostan Union, the Democratic Party of the Left, the Italian Socialist Party, the Progressive Democratic Autonomists and the Italian Republican Party.{{cite web |url=http://www.regione.vda.it/amministrazione/autonomia/nonalegisla_i.asp |title=Le Giunte dal 1946 al 1993 |website=www.regione.vda.it |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20010210092515/http://www.regione.vda.it/amministrazione/autonomia/nonalegisla_i.asp |archive-date=2001-02-10}}

For the 1993 regional election the Independent Autonomist joined forces with Cesare Dujany, former leader of the Popular Democrats, and launched the For Aosta Valley list.{{cite web |url=http://www.consiglio.regione.vda.it/storia/legislatura_10_i.asp |title=Consiglio Regionale della Valle d'Aosta - le Legislature dal dopoguerra a oggi |accessdate=2009-02-20 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110111014341/http://www.consiglio.regione.vda.it/storia/legislatura_10_i.asp |archivedate=2011-01-11 }} Since then the party ceased to exist.
