Indigo Lake is a small, roughly triangular lake in Summit County, Ohio, in the United States.[http://www.lake-link.com/Ohio-Lake-Finder/lake.cfm/23561/Indigo-Lake-Summit-County-Ohio/ Indigo Lake, Ohio Lake Finder], retrieved 13/10/12 It is not a natural lake, having been created by the park service in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It is a popular fishing location, with several species present including the Largemouth bass.

National Park

Originally the site of Gray's Quarry, a gravel and sand pit, Indigo Lake came under the responsibilities of the National Park Service on December 27, 1974, with the creation of the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area.[http://www.nps.gov/cuva/historyculture/upload/History7-final-for-web.pdf History of the Park], retrieved September 30, 2012 The pit was later filled with water by park service personnel to create what was subsequently called "Indigo Lake", which remains in place sustained by a constant supply of water from several natural springs in the immediate area. It is situated entirely within the boundaries of Cuyahoga Valley National Park.[http://www.nps.gov/cuva/index.htm Cuyahoga Valley National Park], retrieved September 30, 2012, published by the USNPS

It is one of only two places in the park closed to swimming.[http://www.nps.gov/cuva/planyourvisit/daily-closures.htm Park Closures], retrieved September 30, 2012, published by the USNPS Although protected as part of the national park, the lake is a popular spot for local fishing. In addition, the lake, which normally freezes over in the colder months of the year, is used by the Akron Fire Department to practice under-ice rescue techniques each winter.{{cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-158748570.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924142551/http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-158748570.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=September 24, 2015|title=Dive team practices rescues in frozen lake: Cold weather gives Akron firefighters the needed ice for annual training|accessdate=October 5, 2012|publisher=Akron Beacon Journal}} It is accessible by car from Riverview road, on foot via the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and by rail via a flag stop station nearby at {{Coord|41|11|39|N|81|34|45|W|region:US-OH_type:landmark|format=dms|name=Indigo Lake}}, part of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.{{cite web|url=http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P3-1056809221.html|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150924202410/http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P3-1056809221.html|url-status=dead|archive-date=2015-09-24|title=Cuyahoga Valley National Park presents 'Get Up, Get Out & Go!{{'-}} |publisher=HT Media LT|accessdate=October 5, 2012}}[http://ohio.hometownlocator.com/maps/feature-map,ftc,1,fid,1891115,n,indigo%20lake.cfmr Ohio Hometown Locator]{{Dead link|date=September 2024 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }}, retrieved 13/10/12
