Reception

John Townsend, writing for "HorrorNews.net" said, "The characters are blatant stereotypes, there is an alarming amount of soft focus used, the gory sections just aren’t convincing and some scenes are just in poor taste. It is as if the filmmakers weren’t sure quite what type of film they wanted to make; there is a bit of exploitation, a hint to survival horror, a pinch of a splatter movie, and what they have delivered is, to put as simply as possible, a mess."{{cite web |last1=Townsend |first1=John |title=Film Review: Infected (2012) |url=https://horrornews.net/70636/film-review-infected-2012/ |website=Horror News |date=June 2015 |access-date=18 March 2024 |archive-date=December 6, 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231206045601/https://horrornews.net/70636/film-review-infected-2012/ |url-status=live }}

Naila Scargill, writing for "Exquisite Terror" said, "Initially amusing due to a self-conscious, rather deliberate campiness, Infection Z rapidly dulls."{{cite web |last1=Scargill |first1=Nalia |title=Infection Z |url=https://www.exquisiteterror.com/infection-z |website=Exquisite Terror |date=June 7, 2013 |access-date=19 March 2024}}

A review at Moirareviews praised the first part and its scenario and acting but lamented the film's lack of originality and directing in the end.{{Cite web |date=2021-08-19 |title=Infected (2013) - Moria |url=https://www.moriareviews.com/horror/infected-2013.htm |access-date=2024-03-19 |website=www.moriareviews.com |language=en-GB |archive-date=December 4, 2023 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20231204171134/https://www.moriareviews.com/horror/infected-2013.htm |url-status=live }}
