Inherit the Wind is the November 18, 1965 episode of the American television series Hallmark Hall of Fame directed by George Schaefer. A videotaped adaptation of the 1955 play of the same name, it shortened the text of the original 1955 play which was written as a parable fictionalizing the 1925 Scopes "Monkey" Trial as a means of discussing the 1950s McCarthy trials.{{Cite news |url=http://www.cjonline.com/stories/030201/wee_inherit.shtml |title=Inherit the controversy |work =The Topeka Capital-Journal |date=March 2, 2001 |last=Blankenship |first=Bill |access-date=2009-05-05 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20141113051143/http://cjonline.com/stories/030201/wee_inherit.shtml |archive-date=2014-11-13 |url-status=dead }}
