History

Founded in 1980, IC marketed an early expert system environment (Knowledge Engineering Environment – KEE)[http://hopl.murdoch.edu.au/showlanguage.prx?exp=1154 Knowledge Engineering Environment (KEE)] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20070919092727/http://hopl.murdoch.edu.au/showlanguage.prx?exp=1154 |date=2007-09-19 }} Encyclopedia of Computer Languages for development and deployment of knowledge systems on the Lisp machines that had several advanced features, such as truth maintenance. KEE used the backward-chaining method of Mycin which had been developed at Stanford. While moving KEE functionality[http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=38765.38809 Teaching object-oriented programming with the KEE system] to the PC, IC created one of the early object-oriented technologies for commercial programming development environments (LiveModel).

The company was also one of the UML Partners, a consortium which helped develop the standards for UML, the Unified Modeling Language.{{Cite web |url=http://atlas.kennesaw.edu/~dbraun/csis4650/A%26D/UML_tutorial/history_of_uml.htm |title=History of UML |access-date=2020-01-24 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20090226033530/http://atlas.kennesaw.edu/~dbraun/csis4650/A%26D/UML_tutorial/history_of_uml.htm |archive-date=2009-02-26 |url-status=dead }}[http://archive.devx.com/uml/umlfaq.asp UML FAQ]
