The International Livestock Research Institute or ILRI is an international agricultural research institute within the CGIAR – formerly the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research.{{Cite web |title=International Livestock Research Institute, ILRI {{!}} socialprotection.org |url=https://socialprotection.org/connect/stakeholders/international-livestock-research-institute-ilri |access-date=2023-05-29 |website=socialprotection.org |language=en}} It was established in 1994 by merger of the International Laboratory for Research on Animal Diseases in Nairobi in Kenya, and the International Livestock Centre for Africa in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.{{r|plan|p=6|ilri1995|p2=1}} It is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation.{{r|phd|p=71}}
