The International Students of History Association (ISHA) is an international non-governmental organization of students of history. Based and active mainly in Europe, ISHA's goals are to facilitate communication and provide a platform of exchange for students of history and related sciences on an international level.{{Cite web |url=http://www.isha-international.org/About |title=About ISHA |access-date=2010-02-12 |archive-date=2015-09-07 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150907212809/http://www.isha-international.org/About |url-status=dead }}{{Cite web |date=2015-10-09 |title=About ISHA |url=https://ishainternational.wordpress.com/about/ |access-date=2023-02-19 |website=International Students of History Association |language=en}}{{Cite web |title=International Students of History Association {{!}} UIA Yearbook Profile {{!}} Union of International Associations |url=https://uia.org/s/or/en/1100063217 |access-date=2023-02-19 |website=uia.org}}

ISHA was founded in Budapest in May 1990 thanks to the initiative of Hungarian history students who, after the fall of the Iron Curtain, wanted to forge links with their colleagues in Western Europe. At present, ISHA's members include more than 25 sections in fifteen European countries, and a number of observers and associate members, while ISHA is itself an associate member of the European Students' Union (ESU).{{Cite web |title=ISHA |url=https://esu-online.org/members/isha/ |access-date=2023-02-17 |website=European Students' Union |language=en-US}} Moreover, ISHA closely cooperates with a number of other academic networks, among them the Network of Concerned Historians,{{Cite web |title=Network of Concerned Historians : Affiliations |url=https://www.concernedhistorians.org/content/affiliations_print.html |access-date=2023-02-17 |website=www.concernedhistorians.org}} the European History Network and EUROCLIO, the European Association of History Educators,{{cite web |url=http://www.cliohworld.net/ |title=Home |website=cliohworld.net}}{{cite web |url=http://www.euroclio.eu/new/index.php/partners/organisations-browse-our-partners |title=Organisations related to History Education |accessdate=2014-09-02 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140708171107/http://www.euroclio.eu/new/index.php/partners/organisations-browse-our-partners |archivedate=2014-07-08 }} and The International Committee of Historical Sciences (ICHS), and the Right to Research Coalition (R2RC).{{Cite web |title=Right to Research Coalition Membership |url=https://sparcopen.org/our-work/r2rc/right-to-research-coalition-membership/ |access-date=2023-02-24 |website=SPARC |language=en-US}}

Structure

The Association is organized around sections, or local chapters, that represent a city. Any city with an active member can become a section, and some are associated with local student organizations, such as Ffabula in the Czech Republic, Durf Doen in Belgium,{{Cite web |title=Durf Doen! – International Students of History Association |url=https://durfdoen.be/en/verenigingen/isha.html |access-date=2023-03-24 |website=durfdoen.be}} and the Association of Finnish History Students in Finland.{{Cite web |date=2014-07-11 |title=ISHA – International Students of History Association |url=https://hol.fi/?p=1561 |access-date=2023-03-24 |website=Historian Opiskelijain Liitto ry |language=fi}} Sections send delegates to the Annual Conferences, where they constitute the General Assembly and elect the International Board, consisting of a President, one or more Vice-Presidents, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. The General Assembly also elects a Council, the Treasury Supervision, the editor-in-chief for Carnival, and an Archivist, responsible for maintaining the association's archives in the Ladeuze University Library of the KU Leuven.{{Cite web |title=scopeArchiv - Information on searching |url=http://abs.lias.be/Query/ |access-date=2023-03-24 |website=Online queries with scopeQuery }}{{Dead link|date=September 2024 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }}
