History

Avex created Intersection's concept in 2015 after scouting the members, forming the group on the basis of the group's members having mixed ancestry in an attempt to break into the international music market.{{cite news | first=Patrick | last=St. Michel | url=https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2020/03/11/music/intersection-bridging-pacific-j-pop/ | title=Intersection: Bridging the Pacific through the medium of J-pop | work=The Japan Times | date=2020-03-11 | accessdate=2020-03-15}}{{cite news | url=https://www.oricon.co.jp/news/2143124/full/ | title=日米ハーフ4人組「INTERSECTION」に女性ファン殺到 ミッチェル和馬が渡米前ラストライブ | language=ja | work=Oricon | date=2019-08-26 | accessdate=2020-03-15}} Prior to debuting, Kazuma Mitchell was an exclusive model for Men's Non-no and a student at Harvard University, while William Aoyama was a Junior Olympic swimmer.
