Isohyaenodon ("equal to Hyaenodon") is an extinct polyphyletic genus of hyainailourid hyaenodont mammal from the subfamily Hyainailourinae). Remains are known from early to middle Miocene deposits in Kenya, East Africa.

Description

Isohyaenodon is distinguished from Hyaenodon in having more robust molars, lower molars with a subequal paraconid and protoconid, and upper molars with a more well-developed protocone.J. Morales, M. Pickford and D. Soria (1998.) [https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1251805099801189 "A new creodont Metapterodon stromeri nov. sp. Isohyaenodon was considered possibly the same genus as Leakitherium from the same region by Van Valen (1967), but subsequent studies have rejected this assumption.{{Cite journal |author1=Floréal Solé |author2=Eli Amson |author3=Matthew Borths |author4=Dominique Vidalenc |author5=Michael Morlo |author6=Katharina Bastl |year=2015 |title=A New Large Hyainailourine from the Bartonian of Europe and Its Bearings on the Evolution and Ecology of Massive Hyaenodonts (Mammalia) |journal=PLOS ONE |volume=10 |issue=9 |pages=e0135698 |doi=10.1371/journal.pone.0135698 |pmid=26398622 |pmc=4580617 |bibcode=2015PLoSO..1035698S|doi-access=free }}{{Cite journal |author1=Jorge Morales |author2=Martin Pickford |year=2017 |title=New hyaenodonts (Ferae, Mammalia) from the Early Miocene of Napak (Uganda), Koru (Kenya) and Grillental (Namibia) |journal=Fossil Imprint |volume=73 |issue=3–4 |pages=332–359 |doi=10.2478/if-2017-0019 |s2cid=31350436 |url=http://fi.nm.cz/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/07_Morales_Pickford_2017.pdf}}

Isohyaenodon pilgrimi Savage, 1965 was formerly assigned to this genus, but has been renamed Exiguodon pilgrimi.
