Isonicotinamide (pyridine-4-carboxamide) is the amide form of isonicotinic acid. It is an isomer of nicotinamide, which has the carboxamide group in the 3-position.{{Cite web|last=PubChem|title=Isonicotinamide|url=https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/15074|access-date=2020-07-25|website=pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov|language=en}}

It is soluble in water (191 g/L), and is also soluble in ethanol, DMSO, methanol, chloroform, chloroform/methanol mixtures, and dioxane (10 mg/L). This compound is used for material synthesis.{{Cite web|title=Isonicotinamide {{!}} C6H6N2O {{!}} ChemSpider|url=http://www.chemspider.com/Chemical-Structure.14346.html|access-date=2020-07-25|website=www.chemspider.com}}

Compounds in which the amide nitrogen is connected to another, and then doubly-bonded, are called isonicotinoylhydrazones.{{Cite web|title=isonicotinamide (CHEBI:6031)|url=https://www.ebi.ac.uk/chebi/searchId.do?chebiId=CHEBI:6031|access-date=2020-07-25|website=www.ebi.ac.uk}}
