Israel–Slovakia relations

Israel–Slovakia relations are bilateral relations of Israel and Slovakia.

Israel and Slovakia established relations on the first of January 1993.{{cite web | url=https://www.mzv.sk/web/sk/izrael | title=Izrael - MZV }} Israel have embassy in Bratislava and Slovakia have embassy in Tel Aviv.

Both Israeli and Slovak nationals doesn't need a visa to visit each country.

History

After the Dissolution of Czechoslovakia Israel recognized both Czechia and Slovakia. Israel and Slovakia have established relations on the first of January 1993. The first official visits were made by the representatives of the parliaments, as visit of the Knesset Speaker was made in August 1994, and a visit of the Chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic in July 1995. The first official visit of Slovak prime minister was after the Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin as the Slovak prime minister Vladimír Mečiar attended the funeral of Yitzhak Rabin on 6 November 1995. On 8 August 1999 Israel and Slovakia have signed an agreement on avidness of double taxation which entered into force on 31 December 2000,https://www.gov.il/BlobFolder/dynamiccollectorresultitem/slovakia_dta-eng/en/international_agreements_slovakia_dtpa-eng.pdf {{Bare URL PDF|date=May 2025}} and agreement on promotion and protection of investments which entered into force on 23 June 2003.https://www.gov.il/BlobFolder/dynamiccollectorresultitem/slovakia_bit-eng/en/international_agreements_slovakia_bit-eng.pdf {{Bare URL PDF|date=May 2025}} In February 2000 the President of the Slovak Republic Rudolf Schuster had an official visit to Israel, and in July 2003 the President of Israel Moshe Katsav had an official visit to Slovakia. Rudolf Schuster had a second visit to Israel in September 2003 as part of an working visit. In November 2003 the Prime Minister of Slovakia Mikuláš Dzurinda had an official visit to Israel.

In 2013 Israel and Slovakia have signed an agreement on cooperation in industrial research and development. Trade

The Israeli military industry is also favorable by the Slovakian military as many deals were signed over the years. Tourism

From 1997 Israeli and Slovakia abolished the need for visas for each other's citizens to travel.
