Juan Rusty Brito (born May 28, 1985) better known by his stage name J.R. Writer, is an American rapper and freestyle champion. He came to prominence in the early 2000s after becoming affiliated with the hip hop group The Diplomats and guest appeared on Juelz Santana's 2003 album From Me To U.

JR signed a joint venture deal with Diplomat and Koch Records to release his debut studio album History in the Making which was released in 2006, which made the top 30 on the Billboard 200.

Career

Writer is from Harlem, New York. He has released one studio album and fifteen mixtapes since 2003, having collaborated with Cassidy, Fred Money, Lloyd Banks, Tito Green, Ransom, Drag-On, Sen City, Paul Wall, T.W.O., Duke Da God, A-Money, Vado, Jae Millz, AraabMuzik and more.{{cite web|url=http://www.hotnewhiphop.com/JRWriter/profile/ |title=JR Writer |publisher=Hotnewhiphop.com |date=May 28, 1984 |access-date=February 27, 2014}} He released his debut album History in the Making in 2006, through Koch and Diplomat Records. On March 18, 2014, Writer began a prison sentence at Ulster Correctional Facility in New York State.{{Citation needed|date=March 2021}}
