The J. Sanford Saltus Medal Award is an annual award made to artists "for lifetime achievement in medallic art". It is administered by the American Numismatic Society. The medal was designed in silver by Adolph A. Weinman, himself the second winner of the award.{{Cite web |url=http://numismatics.org/archive/awards/ |title=About the awards |access-date=2018-06-16 |archive-date=2019-11-02 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191102074340/http://numismatics.org/archive/awards/ |url-status=dead }} While this medal was at first only given to Americans, since 1983 foreign artists are also eligible to receive this award.{{cite web|title=Recipients of the Saltus Medal Award|date=20 September 2016 |url=http://numismatics.org/saltuswinners/|access-date=February 24, 2019|publisher=American Numismatic Society}}
