JHR Developments is a British motorsport team, based in Dronfield, Derbyshire, United Kingdom. The team currently participates in the F4 British Championship and GB3 Championship.

Notable past drivers for the team include Tom Ingram, Sennan Fielding, Deagen Fairclough, Billy Monger, Ayrton Simmons, James Hedley, Abbi Pulling, Matthew Rees, McKenzy Cresswell, Joseph Loake and John Bennett.

History

The team was founded in 1995 as Jamie Hunter Racing to support Jamie Hunter’s entry in the Formula Renault Eurocup (then Eurocup Formula Renault) and Formula Renault 2.0 UK.{{Cite web|author=Ida Wood|date=21 November 2018 |title= British F4 team JHR Developments to expand into BRDC British F3 |url=https://formulascout.com/british-f4-team-jhr-developments-to-expand-into-brdc-british-f3/46552|access-date=2024-12-26 |website=Formula Scout |language=en}} {{Cite web|date=15 July 2021 |title= British F4's JHR: We've won in every single series we've been in |url=https://old.motul.com/md/en/news/events-racing/british-f4-s-jhr-we-ve-won-in-every-single-series-we-ve-been-in |access-date=2024-12-26 |website=Motul |language=en}} The founder, Jamie Hunter (born 16 February 1972), participated in the 2001 Porsche Supercup season, but he died on 3 July 2001 after a road traffic accident.{{Cite web |title= Jamie Hunter |url=http://www.motorsportmemorial.org/LWFWIW/focusLWFWIW.php?db=ct&db2=LWF&n=272|access-date=2024-12-26|website=Motorsport Memorial |language=en}} After Jamie Hunter’s death, his younger brother, Steven Hunter (current team principal) continued to run the team and renamed the team as JHR, which stands for the team’s initial name. Because the team’s focus is driver development, the team began using the current name, JHR Developments, at an unknown date.

The team has claimed to win all series the team participated in.

==Formula 4==

Initially, after the team’s foundation, the team participated in two Formula Renault series: Eurocup Formula Renault and Formula Renault 2.0 UK.

The team has competed in the F4 British Championship since its inception in 2015. The team won all available championships in 2021: Driver, team and rookie.

To serve its F4 British operation, the team is known to have a race simulator.{{Cite web |last=Lickorish |first=Stephen |date=13 November 2019 |title=How a Formula 4 underdog is taking on the big guns|url=https://www.autosport.com/general/news/how-a-formula-4-underdog-is-taking-on-the-big-guns-5112974/5112974/ |access-date=2025-04-18 |website=Autosport|language=en}}

The team also competed in the 2022 season in two non-British F4 championships in 2022: UAE (full-time entry) and Spanish (part-time entry), but failed to score any points.

In late 2024, the team was officially announced to join 2025 season of the Formula Winter Series.{{Cite web |last=Weller |first=Adam |date=2024-11-06 |title=JHR Developments confirm 2025 Formula Winter Series campaign |url=https://winter-series.com/news/formula-winter-series/fws-jhr-developments-confirm-2025-formula-winter-series-campaign/ |access-date=2025-03-20 |website=Winter Series by GEDLICH Racing}} However, the team withdrew prior to the start of the season. ==GB3 Championship==

In November 2018, it was announced that the team would compete in GB3 Championship (then BRDC British Formula 3 Championship) from 2019 season.{{Cite web|url=https://www.britishf3.com/british-f3-news/jhr-developments-joins-the-brdc-british-f3-championship/|title=JHR Developments joins the BRDC British F3 Championship|access-date=13 February 2019|archive-date=8 November 2020|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20201108103959/https://www.britishf3.com/british-f3-news/jhr-developments-joins-the-brdc-british-f3-championship/|url-status=dead}} However, the team did not compete in any round in 2019 season.{{Cite web |last=Wood |first=Ida |date=2020-07-24 |title=2020 BRDC British Formula 3 season preview |url=https://formulascout.com/2020-brdc-british-formula-3-season-preview/64935 |access-date=2024-12-26 |website=Formula Scout |language=en-US}} Their debut occurred in 2020 for a part-time basis with two cars. In 2023 season, the team claimed the Teams' Championship with 844 points.

==British GT Championship==

In May 2010, the team entered the 2010 British GT Championship for the two Knockhill races in the GTC class. Using the Jamie Hunter Racing (the original team name) banner, the team fielded a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup with the British duo Steven Hunter and Derek Pierce in the driver’s seats and secured one victory in the class as the only car competing in GTC class in this round (8th in overall) along with a DNF (did not finish).{{Cite web |title= British GT Knockhill 2010 |url=https://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/Knockhill-2010-05-09-19730.html?sort=Qualifying2|access-date=2024-12-26 |website=Racing Sports Cars|language=en}} The team did not do any further rounds in the 2010 British GT season and the team’s two drivers, Hunter and Pierce, finished 3rd in GTC class.

The team also appeared in the first two rounds of 2011 British GT Championship with a Ginetta G55, fielding Stefan Hodgetts and Adam Morgan.{{cite journal|journal=Autosport|publisher=Haymarket Publications|date=21 April 2011|title=More aces to British GT|volume=204|issue=3|page=86|quote=Hodgetts will also appear in the main GT3 class at Oulton, sharing a JHR-run Ginetta G55 with former GT Supercup runner Adam Morgan.|editor-first=Kevin|editor-last=Turner}} The pair finished 14th overall in the first race but retired from the second race.

==Other series==

Before 2014, the team participated in Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom (now Clio Cup Great Britain), a one-make, entry-level sports car racing series, but the team has not participated since the second half of the 2014 season.{{Cite web|last=Paice|first=Simon|date=2015-12-02|title=Proctor Joins 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup With Returning JHR|url=https://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2015/12/169887/|access-date=2025-03-20|website=The Checkered Flag|language=en}}{{Cite web|last=Paice|first=Simon|date=2016-02-24|title=JHR Developments To Continue Clio Cup Hiatus In 2016|url=https://www.thecheckeredflag.co.uk/2016/02/jhr-developments-to-sit-out-2016-clio-cup/|access-date=2025-03-20|website=The Checkered Flag|language=en}}

Formerly, the team also competed in one-make racing championships organized by Ginetta, including Ginetta Junior Championship and Ginetta GT4 Supercup. In August 2017, the team was suspended from competing in these championships as the team was under investigation because of engine irregularities.{{Cite web|first=Bethonie |last=Waring |date=6 October 2019|title=How JHR Developments continues to battle British F4's big names|url=https://formulascout.com/how-jhr-developments-continues-to-battle-british-f4s-big-names/55217|access-date=2025-02-05|website=Formula Scout|language=en}}{{Cite web|last1=Benyon|first1=Jack|last2=Lickorish|first2=Stephen|date=16 August 2017|title=Leading team JHR suspended from competing in Ginetta categories|url=https://www.autosport.com/general/news/leading-team-jhr-suspended-from-competing-in-ginetta-categories-4997390/4997390/|access-date=2025-03-20|website=Autosport|language=en}}{{Cite web|last=Goodwin|first=Graham|date=15 August 2017|title=Ginetta Suspend Top team From One-Make Competition
